The Temple of Isis at Philae — the goddess, the energy, and the spiritual significance of one of Egypt’s most sacred sites. (3 min read)
The Temple of Isis, located on the island of Phillae, in the middle of the Nile in southern Egypt, was the site for our welcome by the spirits of ancient Egypt.
Getting here required a short flight from Cairo to Aswan, but we arrived a couple of hours later than expected and with the news that our flight to another temple (Abu Simbel) had been cancelled. In hindsight this was perfect because we pretty much had the Isis temple, and particularly the holy of holies, to ourselves and also a bit more time to experience the sites around Aswan.
Phillae is not the original location of the Isis Temple. In fact, it was moved stone by stone, from its home nearby, but under the water, between 1960 and 1980. The relocation was a great success and it is perfect that we have access to this sacred place for the divine feminine. The energy was very strong in the inner parts of the temple for me, and gentler outside. Jo guided us through a lovely meditation in the inner sanctum of the temple and there was enough time to do some private work too.
This was a lovely welcome to Egypt. But I feel it was also a recognition of my dear friend’s connection with Isis as I was carrying a message of thanks giving from her.
