After 4 days of trying to get to Gubbio I am finally here.
What a lovely, peaceful place… some say second only to Assisi for Francesco.
I had the most lovely time here visiting 3 special exhibitions about St Francis and the wolf and an 8th century pilgrim church (S Maria della Vittoria) in the custody of the Franciscans since 1213.
I will write something substantial when I have read (and translated) the huge, beautiful exhibition catalogue. For now I post a few of my favourite pieces from the exhibitions and some of the public art about the story of St Francis and the wolf.
