Crystal sound healing course
A crystal sound healing training course in Bali — learning to play the bowls, the science behind the sound, and the personal transformation that follows. Some places for vegetarian food are suggested. (5 min read)
After a week’s lock-down with the crystal sound course, I’m now “down to earth”… which is an organic vegetarian restaurant and shop in Ubud, Bali.
The food in Bali has been awesome. The diet on the course was principally live food – prepared with great love and was really, really delicious. I reckon I halved my regular food intake (and eliminated coffee altogether), but during the course my energy levels were boosted to the point where I needed 2 hours less sleep. This morning I’m drinking a “Bali Boost” comprising maca, raw chocolate, bee pollen, flax seeds and guarana and cashew milk – it is delicious and a bit of a treat. Last night I posted a photo of our lunch at “clear” – which is international standard vegan restaurant in Ubud, with many raw food choices, including awesome cakes made with avocado and raw chocolate and coconut.
Ubud is familiar and easy but you have to carefully watch where you are walking. There is an elaborate irrigation system for the rice fields in Bali and my hunch is that these principles have been applied to the drainage in Ubud. The footpaths are paved but the height is irregular and I think this is because of water flowing below them. It is five years since I was last here and there are obvious changes – in terms of more western style shops (many designer ‘knock-offs’) and even more traffic.
The people are really lovely in Bali but it is a bit annoying to be offered a taxi or massage every 10 metres.
I’m not ready to share too much about the crystal sound retreat yet but the short version is that the Crystal Sound Foundation course is taught by AwaHoshi Kavan.
I met AwaHoshi at the Body Mind and Spirit Festival in Sydney in 1999 when she conducted a couple of sound transmissions. We used the recordings of those sessions for several years, along with AwaHoshi’s CDs. I felt many benefits from this advanced healing method. In 2007, I did a week’s retreat with AwaHoshi in Ubud. This magnetised a connection to the crystal light apparatus and, ultimately, to working with the good spirits.
The foundation course involves various exercises, fabulous food, a lot of healthy living information and crystal sound transmissions. However, the main focus is upon finding one’s “signature tone” amongst the range of quartz crucibles. This part of the course was particularly challenging for me because at the end of the week one must sing with this tone. I did sing – and AwaHoshi tells me i was in tune – but this throat work is continuing.
Our group of 6 represented many planetary landmasses – with participants coming from Hawaii/Japan, India/USA, Czech Republic, Bali/Chile, Bali/Russia and Australia. AwaHoshi arranged an opportunity for us to be welcomed to Bali by a Hindu high priest and his wife. This beautiful ceremony was made even more special by elaborate offerings prepared for us by our driver’s wife.
Our course was undertaken in a beautiful place set amidst the rice fields in Payangan, about 30 minutes drive from Ubud. Nearby was a lovingly preserved sacred space which we were able to use for a ceremony on the eve of the full moon. While the hotel was nicely designed, we had several issues with the Belgian owner who is not respectful of the Balinese people or much interested in running a hospitality business. I think our group was called to this place to clear the area, as well as to provoke change in the owners. While we started this process, it will not be complete until there is genuine contrition for the hurting the local people by the disruption to the rice fields.
At this point, I’ve decided to go the beach – Gaia Oasis Resort – for the rest of my stay in Bali. I’m not expecting any tsunami.
