Pigs flying over the rainbow and into the heat of Bali

,

A return to Bali — heat, colour and the familiar magic of the island. (2 min read)

I’ve woken up in Ubud, Bali. It is warm.   Banana pancakes and tropical fruits for breakfast – very tasty, though the super-duper insect repellant on my lips gives the meal a mouth-dumbing sensation.  This is not without its benefits, because I think the coffee may be Nescafe.

Although the flight was only 6 hours, the whole journey took almost 12 because of flight changes in Brisbane. I’m pleased to say that the pig given to me by my dear friends at Arts NSW did fly and will forever more hold the keys to my luggage.

The trip from Sydney was pretty ordinary, except a beautiful rainbow halo surrounding the plan.  I’ve never seen anything like it, but took it as a great omen.

Feeling very jet-lagged this morning, but the fatigue is more from the stress of the last few weeks than the flight.  This will be gone in a day or so.

More later after I chop all my hair off!
